12/29/2010:
We loaded the language disc. I called it a night. Mikey started lesson one… and stopped after 2 pages, heh. This is going to be HARD!

12/30/2010:
I finished lesson 1!!!!!! OK, so I cannot really say or understand anything yet, but at least I got through it! I have noticed that gender matters in the noun… and also later in the sentence. This example is going to be phonetic and, well, wrong, but something like:

The girl drinks. = Lurki peer-ka-hey.
The boy drinks. = Lurka peer-key-ha.

Or something like that. I think the “peer” is actually the verb… I think. So there’s an agreement somewhere in the middle that relates back to the subject. There’s even agreement when the subject is plural. But did you notice that MASCULINE is “a” & FEMININE is “i”? So wrong! (At least for someone who’s been studying Spanish! Ha!)

Oh, and to type a sound you have to use 2 keys! So “ma” in namaste takes the “c” key, then the “r” key to be complete. (Rosetta Stone maps the standard keyboard to the necessary designs for Hindi. I have no idea what an actual Hindi keyboard would look like!!)

All in all I think I’m learning something… and that this is going to be fun! I’m going to repeat lesson 1 tomorrow & see if any of it stuck. 🙂

Can’t wait to see how this goes!

Hindi anyone?
