Lessons:
Do you want to learn? If so, then I want to teach. Music is more than just playing or singing or reading the right notes at the right time – music is a language. I can show you how to speak that language.

Learning is an adventure: be it on the an instrument, vocally, or in music theory. I show every student the basics of their instrument, the fundamentals of reading and music theory, history, and ear training. From there, our approach is individual, based on what you want to learn:
  • Want to be a classically trained concert pianist, instrumentalist or vocalist?
  • Perhaps Jazz or Broadway is more your style?
  • Want to learn to play (or sing) by ear, or improvise?
  • Want to write and arrange your own music?
  • Want to accompany yourself while you sing?
  • Be comfortable on stage?
  • Speak and read the language of music comfortably?
  • Be a band member or front singer?
  • Prepare for an audition or performance?

Lessons are available in both a private or group format. They range from 30 minutes to one hour, one day per week, and are taught at my home studio, unless other arrangements are made. Family or group discounts are available. Please contact me to discuss.

Billing

When you pay monthly, you have paid for 4 lessons. Payment for the next 4 lessons is due on the 4th lesson. If paying quarterly, payment is due for the next quarter on the 12th lesson. If payment is not received by the 2nd unpaid lesson, a $15 late charge will be added. There will be a $25 fee for any returned checks.

Costs for music and books are not included in this price. For the most part, I will provide materials and will note the cost on your next statement.

Cash and personal checks are accepted. Credit card payments are also accepted, via our website (click here). There is a $1 convenience fee for credit card payments (to cover the cost of credit card / Paypal transactions).

Requirements

I require only a few things: the desire to learn, an instrument with which to practice, and respect.

Desire to learn is important. In order to improve, you need focus, practice, and a little bit of drive. These won’t come unless you really want to learn.

An instrument is vital. If you don’t have a concert grand piano at home, that’s ok. Any real acoustic piano is great, but most electronic keyboards will do as well – especially at the beginning. An instrument will help with vocal and theory lessons as well, but isn't absolutely necessary. For other instruments (guitar, bass guitar, or band), you'll of course need access to an instrument for practice.

Respect is required. Please respect my time and the schedules of other students. With 24-hour notice, lessons can be rescheduled. A last minute cancellation or no-show cannot be credited or refunded. Emergencies will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. To be fair to other students, please be on time – I can’t extend any lessons to make up for late starts. If a student needs to withdraw, please give me 30 days notice, so that I have as much time as possible to fill the time slot.
